Dr. Zaid's research program focuses on the epidemiology of cardiovascular and other non-communicable diseases (NCDs). A central theme of her research is investigating the role of lifestyle factors, lipid biomarkers, and novel risk markers in the development of subclinical atherosclerosis and incident cardiovascular disease. Her work utilizes large-scale cohort studies, advanced statistical analysis, and the application of imaging technologies like carotid intima-media thickness measurement.
Dr. Zaid has developed two SAS Data Analysis courses and is the sole lecturer:
SAS数据分析入门 (Optional Course)2学分
This course will provide the basics in data analysis methods using statistical software (SAS), which is a fundamental requirement for research in Epidemiology. Methods in data analysis and SAS software programming will be taught simultaneously. Simple methods in cross-sectional cohort data will be taught, ranging from Parametric tests (t-test, ANOVA, ANCOVA) to Non-Parametric tests (Wilcoxon, Kruskal-Wallis) and regression analyses (linear and logistic). Basic explanations of the statistical theory behind each method used will be done. Homework and an examination will be held to ensure students’ in-depth learning of the material and its application to sample datasets.
SAS-中级数据分析 (Optional Course)2学分
This second SAS course will delve into more commonly used methods in data analysis of Ecological, Longitudinal Cohort, Randomized Control Trials, and Case-Control study designs. Such methods include Poisson and negative binomial regression, binary and ordinal logistic regression, and survival analysis, and regression with restricted cubic splines, among other key methods. Statistical assumptions and common errors in these analyses will be addressed. Students are expected to have some basic SAS coding experience. Basic explanations of the statistical theory behind each method used will be done. Open book examination will be held to ensure students’ in-depth learning of the material and its application to sample datasets.
